Do apples make things ripen?
The key is ethylene! At room temperature place unripe fruits and add apples or bananas in a sealed container or bag. Wrapping in paper works just as well. Apples or bananas give off ethylene gas, which speeds up ripening process. Works mainly on green fruits that are matured or show a little bit of colour.
